Milestones

1911
Marcello Savio set up a small handicraft enterprise that went on to specialize in making components for the local textile industry.
The lot of hard work put in by the family and the good quality of the product gradually brought the company up to play an important role in the textile machinery sector especially for winders, assembly winders and twisters.

1950 - 1960
In these years of the economic boom, Savio receives significant recognition from the market and grows rapidly, contributing decisively to spreading the technical culture throughout the territory.
By using advanced personnel training systems and continuously rotating internal resources, acquiring a global knowledge of all the production processes, generations of highly specialized technicians are formed both inside and outside the company, involving a great number of external collaborators.

1970 - 1980
At the beginning of the 70s a new chapter opens for Savio. The company first goes over to EGAM and then to ENI. Under public management, the company grows and enhances its production lines which is also thanks to constant innovation and to the resources dedicated to Research & Development.
Such strategic options, together with internationalisation, allow Savio to become world leader in the production of textile machines, even though the financial results alternate.

1990
In the 90s the privatisation process starts and, once production has been rationalised and refocused, ENI sells Savio to a group of private investors and internal managers.
In the hands of a motivated and enterprising management and with the addition of new resources, Savio consolidates its position on the market and gets a new development phase on the tracks.

1998
In October 1998 Savio Macchine Tessili S.p.A. is acquired by the Radici Group, already well known on the textile machinery market with the companies Somet, Vamatex (Looms Division), OMV, Cincla and Actex (Accessories Division), Eutron (Electronics Division).
Significant human and financial resources are invested in research and development to create products that are flexible and technologically advanced.

2001
Savio becomes part of the Itema Group, world leader in the textile machinery industry.
The era begins being part ofa new group that bills 1,000 billion and has almost 2,000 employees. An innovative and solid group based on a precise philosophy: skill and passion in doing its work.
